One of the biggest challenges faced globally is diabetes, which is largely a consequence of family history, inappropriate diet, lack of physical activity and sedentary lifestyle.
This often results in various ailments including, diabetic retinopathy, coronary artery disease, atherosclerosis, renal failure, diabetic neuropathy, etc. The United Arab Emirates is ranked 6th in the global diabetics index, with about 11.8% of adults classified as diabetic.
It is commonly known that the majority of diabetic cases are discovered during a routine medical check whereas, the majority of the population does not undergo the annual medical check. This challenge will help many of the participating individuals to know their health status
Our Objectives in conducting this diabetic Challenge are:
- To improve the quality of life of an individual/community/society by promoting the national agenda of quality health & quality healthcare.
- Joining hands with Health authorities (MOH-Preventive Medicine) in implementing comprehensive lifestyle medicine & chronic disease management programs.
- For RAK hospital to provide to the community its comprehensive, one-stop, Illness to Wellness programs, by making available to the community the necessary information and education for the better medical & Lifestyle management of diabetes.
Virtual Category
Participants may take their HbA1C test at their own cost at any medical clinic convenient to them. But to qualify for an Award/Recognition, the participant must submit proof of HbA1C reports taken on the first and the final day of the challenge.
Physical Category
Those participants who wish to be a part of the Physical Diabetes Challenge category , may take the HbA1C test (Free of cost) at the RAK Hospital facility, Ras al Khaimah.
SMS Category
Comprising Rak Hospital Diabetes patients, may take the HbA1C test free of cost at any Rak Hospital Clinic.
Webinars
We conduct weekly Webinars on diabetes relevant topics which will be addressed by RAK Hospital Doctors and Health Professionals, including Endocrinologist, Diabetologist, Physician, Nutritionists,etc.

Participants may call in to and get connected with our panel of experts for advice on diet modification, exercise programs, behaviour changes, diabetes management and other aspects.
